Sun Jul 31, 2005 5:11 am

Topic says it all, will I get a PTV on a domestic 777 on United?

I believe the two class domestic 777s lack PTVs in economy. You have to be on an international 777 to find that luxury.

They do according to my mate who flew ORD-SFO on one.

Couldn't be sure as I have never flown UA myself.

The fact that he had a PTV on a domestic flight does not directly answer the question here. That flight must have been served by an international 777. The actual domestic configured aircraft do not have PTVs in economy.

They don't. Only the 3-class aircraft have PTVs. Same with the 767s.

Oh well I was just going off what he said - he would never have been able to tell the difference. He struggled to tell the difference between the BD A330 and the UA 777.

As others have said, the 2 class domestic UA 777 does not have the entertainment in the seat backs. However, I have flown this A/C from ORD-SFO-HNL and the monitors above are many and easy to view from anywhere in the cabin.

Enjoy the ride.

Cheers

Most 2-class UA Boeing 763s and 777s fly between Hawaii and continental US, and if you check your www.united.com, if there is a business class cabin on sale, that means it is a three-class/International Boeing 763s and 777s operated flight, and there are PTVs. They usually fly between hubs as to position a/c for various international transpacific and transatlantic operation -- LAX-DEN-IAD, SFO-ORD, LAX-ORD, LAX-IAD, SFO-IAD... SFO-DEN.

If Boeing 767s and 777s show only F and Y class for sale... that means it is a domestic 2-class configuration, and no PTVs in F and Y. Only mainscreen... Hawaii flights mostly get the domestic configured a/c, but sometimes there are a/c changes... of course... my friend flew on an international 777 from SFO to HNL last Christmas and he was also op-up to "J" as he was using the standard Y award.
