DFW Vs. TSA's Cuts

Sun Jul 31, 2005 12:26 pm

Article headline says '90 Screeners to be Cut at DFW". Interesting read in the sense that TSA apparently feels they can reduce 90 screeners due to the new automated baggage screening/explosives detecting system now online, but DFW officials are not convinced.

Have to admit my first impression was "DFW management is trying to cut back". But article goes into details that DFW officials are "less optimistic" than TSA about needs, finds the announcement "very disconcerting".

At least it seems like they will handle the cuts through attrition and not do a massive cutback and then be caught short-handed. Was surprised to know there are >1,300 screeners at the airport.
