Before everyone jumps on me, i am an aviation enthusiast and frequent flyer (but work for an insurance company)...that being said i was wondering if anyone on the technical side can answer me the following question.
I was flying back to EWR
on friday morning and the normal 22L approach and 22R takeoff pattern was in effect. However, I noticed that there were a bunch of RJ
's and what looked like a NW320 taking off on RWY 29 as well. Who makes the decisions if they want some planes to take off on 11-29, is it ATC or airline request? I might understand under heavier departure times that they might use the extra runway, but from all the times i have flown in and out of EWR
there is no consistency with that thought.
