I am keeping my fingers crossed that a rational agreement will be reached that all can live with.

I hoping that everything works out for the best for NW's customers, shareholders, salaried employees, replacement mechanics, and for any current NW mechanics who vote against striking.

I believe that NWA management has every intention of using replacment mechanics regardless of if they go on strike or not. Its a game and they're just dragging the union along

NW isn't playing around, I think its great. They will not let the union take them down like they have done to so many other airlines. Good job NW, I hope that all the sensible MX that vote against a strike continue their jobs with these great new people and the MX voting for a strike enjoy their broke lives...

This strike, if it happens, may be the biggest non-event strike ever.

Every indication is that NW is ready to fly a full sked unhampered.

My Dad retired after 25 years because he did not want to give any more money back to the comapny. Employees have given back to NW for 9 years.

He said no more, and with him retiring at lest one MX will keep their job.

It won't be a non -event. Labor and Management of every carrier and any other business that has a collective bargaining agreement in place will be watching to see what law bending new procedures will occur in an anti-labor administration. Smart Union administrators and even a few smart Union members will be trying to absorb what kind of union negotiations are left available to them. What promises are useless? What is a contract worth? How will the Railway Labor Act be twisted to which ends? What will government allow managements to do that's new? Is AMFA's "militant" (not my quote) stance far less rewarding than the "same bed" procedures the IAM has been accused of? Will it make any differences or will all contracts meet this fate? Is a career in the industry possible above service employee wages? Many, many other things will be watched. Far too many and important to be a "Non-event"

Welcome to my I'll never respect you again list. You are the second one on, behind Fred Smith. It takes a lot to get there, but all it took you was one sentence! Come back when you know what it feels like to be over-worked, under-paid, and mis-treated in the workplace. It doesn't take all of us a first hand experience to feel sympathetic to the workers in some cases like this, but apparently for you it does. Thanks!

Someone help me here. The want to lay off about 2,000 mechanics right? They only have 1,000 scabs trained. The amount that they want to lay off is twice what they have trained. Doesn't NW have around 4,000 mechanics? I know that Airbus and KLM are going to help with some of the work, but will that cover 4,000 strikers? I don't think that it will.
Nice Trip Report!!! Great Pics, thanks for posting!!!! B747Forever

I was prepared for a reply like that judging by the bulk of A.Net users taking the age in the profile to mean everything. Which is why I added the sentence after that "It doesn't take all of us a first hand experience to feel sympathetic to the workers in some cases like this, but apparently for you it does."

I heard that talks have broken off. Like I said earlier the company is just dragging the union along.
