Damn, those passengers on that plane must be going crazy! I hope the situation -while waiting- is bearable. I'm surprised they didn't continue to Chicago, Montreal or New York where KLM has its own crews...just in case.
|Quoting ChrisA330 (Reply 13):|
KLM declared a fuel emergency just after they were advised that the airport closed. They requested direct clearence to SYR, ATC suggested YHM, but KLM preferred SYR for some reason. Couldn't make it out on the ATC archive.

Quoting CayMan (Reply 18):
I hope the KLM pax in SYR were permitted to disembark, or did they spend 4 hours sitting in that 744?
They would have to go through US Immigration. So I rather think they remained onboard.
|Quoting HZ747300 (Reply 20):|
But someone said that was the whole reason they went to SYR in the lengthy thread. When I was flying an SV747300 we were diverted to Gander, NF, on our way to JFK. We were allowed to disembark and visit the gift shop, toilets and cafe, as we were on the ground for a several hours.
