That's good, a change from 738s. Call me weird, but the AA 762 is one of my favorite planes, good memories of LAX-JFK and back. It seems like you can only see them LAX, SFO, JFK, MIA and now (again) BOS. I hope the AA 762 soldiers on for years to come.

This is also great news for shippers of perishable items..Fresh Herbs/Flowers/delicate fruits, etc. from California and Hawaii.

For some time now we have either had to use cnxn at ATL on DL or AA to JFK then a truck to Logan with extra handling costs and time. Hope this flight stays on next spring also for Cherries and Ultra Fancy Strawberries.

Thanks AA!

This certainly must be in response to Song, so one might expect a similar uptick for BOS-SFO?

It has nothing to do with Song or anything else. It is a temporary aircraft reallocation and scheduling. It just so happens they had a free 762 to send in, and it scheduled in right. It is only for six weeks and the plane isn't even being sold as 3-class.

No. BOS-LAX going all-757 next year, that is to compete with Song and B6, but sending a 762 on the route for less than two months, that's just prudent scheduling and resource utilizaiton.

I view the all 757s on the BOS-LAX-BOS routes as an upgrade. That is one of the reasons I always choose UA when I have to fly to LAX, I love the 757 and UA uses it on the BOS-LAX-BOS routes.

so what is the point of putting the 762 back on the BOS-LAX route for a month and a half?

Has premium demand dropped that much on the route where they only want to sell 9 seats. I would imagine the other way would work better. Sell/Upgrade 39 seats and give the 9 seats to full fare or the highest elite fliers.
It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Slightly off-topic, but I am sure that I saw an AA 762 on the MAN-BOS service recently. Given the route is all-Y, I think a lot of people must have got a bit of an upgrade?

This is NOT the first time that AA is doing this. They have done this before and it is the sole purpose of a/c allocations. Nothing else. It is in no response to that Jetblue or Song.

In my opinion the best way to go to BOS-LAX-BOS is on Song since AA doesn't offer any service in the main cabin anymore, plus they have an IFE system and AA does not. Seems like an easy choice/selection to me.

Have a good weekend.
