The route will be VABB (not ABB ie BOM-SFO) - KSFO - KSEA as the Worldliner finishes this leg of the 'Going the Distance' tour.

Yup, Sixteen hours trans-polar, the pilots reckoned it should take 16 hours 20 minutes (plus/minus 1 hour). With a couple of reps from AI and 9W on board to show off BOM-West Coast range. I think this is the longest the Worldliner has done to date.

Well, the Press Conference happened in DEL yesterday and I was there. VABB is the four letter code for BOM, its quite likely they missed the 'V'.

Anyone who is interested pop back to this topic on Saturday when I'll have the gate number and slot time. The guy I had to go through didn't know about it so I'm going to guess that it's pretty low-key stop for fuel and to show AI reps what the bird is made of.

Take care,

Matt

If I see no responces Saturday night I'll pop off e-mails to those in the topic with the information.

It will definitely be brought into the International Terminal. If it is in the Morning, plan on Terminal A. In the afternoon, Terminal G.

When I was on the plane a couple of days ago, I was told that they'll go over Pakistan, up through the northern tip of Afghanistan, Central Asia, and then Russia. A straight north routing would take them right over some of the tallest peaks in the Hindu-Kush which is avoidable. So it will make a slight bypass to the left!

We've been to the park, and there's a fence up there now. You really can't spot very well from there. But it is better than most other areas I know. I guess the best bet is to wait and see what gate she is assigned. I'm sure legacyins will keep us in the loop.

I haven't been to that park in a long time so I had no idea a fence went up.

There are some other places along Old Bayshore Highway that you can see planes land on the 28s. About a half mile down the road, there's a restaurant called the Elephant Bar. If you walk behind it, you're right up against the water with a clear view of the runway. It's where the red roofed buildings are in the bottom center of the image below:

Leave it to Alaska to delay even Boeing! The 777LR is stuck at SFO till about 430 or 500p because pilot are on AS 212 which is delayed due to Seattle weather this morning. So for you spotter the plane will be at G-91 till at least 430p.

too bad you didn't go in......we were bumming about not being able to get into the aircraft..especially after seeing it near the gate.....I'm glad they parked in at gate 91 as opposed to 99...the views were MUCH better... yes

Yes, that was great fun Jacobin. Let's get together for some more spotting soon.

-----------

We had a fun day spotting, both from Bayside Park and from Terminal G. What great luck that it was parked at G91 because it was right next to the windows in the corridor.

Did anyone else catch that increadible rotation and takeoff? I've never seen a plane so big take off so quickly! I'm guessing that takeoff roll must have been less than 2,000 feet. Does that seem reasonable or am I crazy?

Looking forward to seeing some pics from today.  Smile

Cheers,
Jeff
