A3XX Seat Configuration

Tue May 02, 2000 3:21 am

At this moment, Airbus is proud of the fact that in an A330/A340 someone sitting in First and Businness has either an aisle or a window seat and that an economy passangers is never more than one seat away from the aisle. This in contrast to the 747 and 777. The new A3XX has, however, a 3-4-3 configuration in economy and probably a 2-3-2 configuration in business. Will they stop promoting their 2-4-2 and 2-2-2 advantage over the competition? Will they come up with a solution for this problem? Someone any comments?

I think Business Class will be situated on the upper deck where the config is 2-2-2 because the upperdeck is a bit narrower.

You are right Avion, forgot about that, but they still face the problem of a 3-4-3 economy cabin. Probably the First cabin will be on the lower deck with a lot of place for those passengers.

Maybe the Airlines introduce a whole new way of travelling. Making a 2-4-2 configuration and place the seats more apart. The A3XX has 20% lower operating cost, so why not give the passengers 20% more space.
But i'm sure some airlines will cram the seats in and airbus must stop advertising the 2-4-2 advantage.

Look at the spaciousness of the cabin. Impressive!

According To The Seating Plans...

Tue May 02, 2000 4:20 am

The seating plans of the A3XX show the following classes:
Economy, main deck, 3-4-3, considerably wider than the 747's seats, and 2-4-2 on the upper deck.
Business, main deck, 2-4-2, also very nice, and 2-3-2 upper deck.
First class would be on the lower deck only, 2-2-2, behind the stairs, not in the nose.
Airbus has also considered, though I haven't seen any official material regarding, a high-density 3-5-3 eco. arrangement. This would be about as rare as 3-4-3 on 777s, I suspect.

3D Seating Charts Of A3XX

Tue May 02, 2000 4:33 am

Airbus has a CD, I don't know if its for sale or not, and a brochure (the 'briefing') both of which have beautiful 3D and plan views of the seating arangements. The CD also has an animated walk-through the lower deck sleeping compartments.

I don't know, I wrote a letter to Airbus telling them that it was hopeless to try and learn about new products elsewhere so they'd better impress me with their response, and I got a whole collection of stuff including the CD. I wrote to them recently inquiring about obtaining another copy, purchasing it probably, but haven't gotten a response yet. It's a few thousand miles so it usually takes a week or more!

Here's A Crappy Pic. From The On-line Brieifng...

In the paper brochure this image is about twice as large and twice as clear. In the CD it's about 9 times as large (literaly, it is much bigger than your monitor) and 9 times as clear, and you can click on spots to see cool little videos...

747-600x, could you please post parts of it on the web somehow... there are certainly many people who would be interested in the info about A3xx, since there is so little to be found at this moment.

I'm not much a web kind of guy, I don't know much about the Internet, I'm good only with off-line software. The CD's animations and graphics are massive, and it would take hours to up or down load them. I'll tell you if Airbus says anything about how to acquire the CD, however. I think you can get the briefing for free. I'll see what I can do but don't count on anything, at this point they still aren't even certain they're going to build the d'rn airplane!
