AA May Sked Update

Tue May 02, 2000 5:01 am

Just noticed the following few changes with the May sked:

JFK-SAN has switched from1 762 to 2 757 and now to
1 757 and 1 738. That means JFK will have 3 daily 738 departures this summer: SEA, BOS, SAN

TPA will get 2 738s, both to MIA. One a/c will overnight.

4/5 ORD-SAN become 738s.

STL-LAX MD80s
DEN-LAX/SJC MD80s
PHX-LAX/SJC MD80s
OAK-LAX MD80s

All Hawaiian ops to be 757/763 by Oct 1.
Still no 738s at DFW or LGA!

RE: Question...

I was watching the planes take off and land yesterday at LAX. I saw an AA 737-NG land, and then proceed to terminal 3. Usually AA only uses Terminal 3 for the San Jose/San Francisco flights (in the ex-Reno Air MD-87s). Is AA starting to use Terminal 3 for more of the mainline flights now? Do you know anything about this? Where do they fly the 737-NG from LAX? I think they fly it to IAD, but I'm not sure about other destinations.

New DFW-OGG nonstop 767-323 service on NOV 12. In addition to the 2 daily DFW-HNL nonstops.

In addition, American Eagle has announced new service to both JFK and LaGuardia from Columbus. American Eagle will offer two daily flights with ERJ-135's, and 3 daily flights to LaGuardia with ERJ-135's starting June 1, and then add a fourth June 18. American/American Eagle flights out of CMH have sharply risen sharply over the past few months. American/American Eagle used to offer 11 daily flights from CMH, with the new service, the number of daily flights has risen to 24.

American stopped flying to Lansing yesterday and I was there to give good riddance to the last ATR. The gate announcer remarked "American Eagle flight 4206 is now in the final boarding process fro the last flight out of Lansing at gate six, thank god." Obviously another loyal American employee.

I think that AA still uses a 737-800 1x daily to SJC. Any word on when the 777 will be used on JFK-LHR?
Thanx

AA uses the 737-800 a lot more than once per day. I believe that SJC is actually #2(after ORD) in flts/day.

The AA Boeing 777 will be introduced to New York, and the JFK-LHR route on July 2. It will operate daily on American 116, departing at 1130PM, arriving LHR at 1120AM. On the return, it will operate as AA107, xLHR at 630PM, arriving JFK 905PM.

A shame these are all night flights, but the big bird should be very visible from the inside of the terminal. At JFK, clear glass is directly behind the main check in areas, allowing great views of piers 10+ and 20+. The London flights usually leave from the 10 side, frequently the first gate behind the glass.

Interestingly, the 777 is 20 minutes faster from New York to London than the A300 it is directly replacing.

On 7/2, when the 777 goes into service, the expanded NYC service goes into effect.

On 7/1, JFK-LHR
3 AB6 CAP. 192=576
2 762 CAP. 165=330
1 763 CAP. 207=207
TOTAL CAP =1113/day

On 7/2, JFK-LHR
2 AB6 CAP 192=384
2 763 CAP 207=414
1 762 CAP 165=165
1 777 CAP 237=237
TOTAL CAP =1200, increasing seats by nearly 90, or more than half of a 767-200. The increase is greatest in business class.

AA changes the route from JFK to SAN every summer to increase capacity to 376 pax from 172. There will be a lot of competition this summer on that route because Delta is adding a nonstop SAN-JFK 763 in the next few days.

Just noticed, JFK-EZE 777 service starts October 1.

Also, the 3xdaily SJC service continues indefinitely.

When is AA going to start 777 service to Paris? Seems like the next logical step.

Actually, not 777 LAX-CDG on AA. They have flight now 777 LAX-LHR on AA. LAX-CDG 777's are Air France and United.
