LH Expands 40% In HAM

Tue Aug 09, 2005 3:02 am

Quite confusing news are coming from lH these days regarding Germanys 2nd biggest city.

Just one day after LH's partly-owned Germanwings announced HAM as their 4th hub, the mother LH also announce an 40 increase in HAM.

6 new destinations will be flown from 15th of October: Budapest, Göteborg, Madrid, Nizza, Prag and Rom. LH will base 4 new 737 in HAM to fly all these new route and destinations like Amsterdam and Nuremberg will also become jet destinations.

So all in all LH will expand it's flights by 14% and the capacity by 40%.

And the best at last: all 23 European destinations from HAM can be booked under the new "BetterFly-Tarif" beginning at 99Euro including all taxes except the 10Euro service charge. First bookings can be made at the 11. of August.

NEW 737s? Does that mean they add some used 737s to their fleet? Or did you just mean that 4 737s of their current fleet will be based in HAM?

Surprise surprise. dba starts NUE-HAM with Fokker 100 and LH reacts with jet service. The ever reacting airline...  tired

I take it's just some 737s being relocated from another LH station to HAM, but not new planes. Anyway, excellent news again for HAM. Investing millions of uros into the airport expansion seems to already start paying off. Who, knows, in the foreseeable future even a HAM meet might become worthwhile  Wink .

Given this expansion, HAM should have enough feed coupled with O&D for LH to possibly throw something at CO. Then again, the smallest they could use would be the A332.

They could also try to use a BBJ or A319LR like they do out of DUS and MUC. If CO manages to attract high-yield passengers, LH will react.

I would be all for it  bigthumbsup . I couldn't care less about MUC getting yet another A340 flight, but I want that BBJ/ACJ service to ORD.
