The vote is on. I really doubt the F/A's will follow suit. If they read the letter from PFAA it is way to gray (in my opinion) to gamble with your job.

Plus, the replacements are there and ready to go. Once you are replaced you have to wait for recall when all this "BS" is over. So you could be out for a very long time. Is it worth it? The pilots aren't going to. The IAM aren't going too. So how can you win a fight from being on the line, watching your replacement get on your airplane with a 87% load factor and taking to the skies with out you? While I AM NOT a supporter for management. NWA is the last of the legacy's to take a pay cut. The contract on the table from NWA for the FA group is ugly. But still better pay then USAirways has. So my question is this. Check what airlines in Chapter 11 have. Compare it to what NWA is offering. Because if NWA goes Chapter 11. You need exit financing. To get that financing you will have to have lower cost then those currently in Chapter 11. LOOK at the big picture here. It is business. Yes business for NWA, but also for yourself. The past if over and unfortunately in the U.S. with the going ons of Corporate America, you have to chose the road with the least risk. Compare Compare Compare and make the choice that is right for you, your family, and your future.

I don't think it will pass- and I will be shocked if it does.... Its not worth it -to me- to lose your job over a strike that isn't even your own!!!

Flyguyclt,

I was under the impression that the replacement f/a's are going to be offered legit positions. Is this true? I do agree that concessions are going to be necessary but some of the stuff that NWA is asking is going a little too far. If they get what they are asking for there will be a whole lot of furloughs. I just returned from 4yrs of furlough and I am sick thinking about being furloughed again in a few months. From what I hear anyone with 10-12 yrs seniority is under the gun. So as it stands I am not so sure US airways contract would be much worse. Lets just hope and pray it doesn't come to that. I do agree that anyone that participates in a sympathy strikes will be heading to the unemployment line straight from the picket line. That is a choice each individual will have to make. I know what I will be doing..

Not that im anti-union, but at a financally troubling time like now, especially in NW's case the last thing these people want is to be permanently jobless in the airline industry. With all the employees furloughed from 9/11 trying to re-enter, these people will be at the bottom of the chain. Why don't these unions wait until things pick up and the carrier isn't on the brink of B.K. If they want whats best for the people they represent, they would hold off until NW is financially able to negotiate their demands. The FA's would be extremely foolish to make such a move, if they do, I wish them all the luck in the wellfare/unemployment line.

BINGO ! ! ! Unfortunately, this is the case as we all have seen and read about the mechanics. NOW, is not the time to leave your job, unless you just want a new career/life path. Get out there, GET invovled, Re-Think, Re-Energize, get all the facts and compare what is on the table to airlines in Chapter 11. If NWA goes Chapter 11, then your costs must be lower than any airline in Chapter 11 to get the necessary financial to weather Chapter 11. Meaning what ever contracts are out there. Yours will be lower. I hope this can be done for NWA out of the Chapter 11 court. NWA employees must put personal issues aside. It is a business for NWA and yes for yourself. YOU must protect yourself and look at the entire picture. So get out and compare all the contracts of airlines in Chapter 11. Then subtract 5 to 10% from that. That is what you are looking at if NWA files. History in aviation is history in aviation. It has happened before and unfortunately is happening now.

Keeping fingers crossed for the "least risk" contract.
