Allegiant Air Announces Sioux Falls S.D. To SFB

Sat Aug 13, 2005 12:05 pm

(Sioux Falls, S.D.)— Sioux Falls, get your flip-flops and sunglasses ready! Allegiant Air, LLC today announces new, nonstop jet service to the fun and sun of Orlando, Fla. from Sioux Falls, S.D. beginning Nov. 9. The same airline that brought Sioux Falls low-fare, nonstop service to Las Vegas, will now offer low-cost, nonstop service to Orlando, with introductory fares as low as $69* each way, when booked at www.allegiantair.com.

The self-proclaimed “Official Airline for Sunshine” will launch the new scheduled service from Sioux Falls Regional Airport to Orlando Sanford International Airport with complete vacation packages including air and hotel stay at the Roadway Inn Maingate starting as low as $198** for three nights, per person based on double occupancy. (Package price reflects a Wednesday departure and Saturday return and may not be available on every flight.) This price also includes a complimentary breakfast.

“We are extremely pleased to expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop, jet service to Orlando,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Allegiant Air president & CEO, said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only scheduled nonstop service between the Sioux Falls and Florida.”

The new flights will operate twice weekly, with service Wednesday and Saturday. Flights will depart Sioux Falls at 5:20 p.m. arriving in Orlando at 9:40 p.m. Flights leaving Orlando will depart at 2:15 p.m. arriving in Sioux Falls at 4:45 p.m. (all flight times are local.) Allegiant will utilize 130-seat, MD-87 jet aircraft on the route.

“This is an absolutely fantastic announcement,” Michael Marnach, Executive Director for Sioux Falls Regional Airport said. “Orlando is an even more popular destination than Las Vegas.”

The airline said that its strong demand from current customers and input from local community leaders indicates that the Sioux Falls area will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Orlando as an alternative to connecting flights or long drives to other airports.

Now all we need is for the SCASD grant to be approved for CID-SFB revenue guarantee and that service and that should start too Smile.

Amen to that Iowaman! Hopefully when it does start it will be more than the twice weekly schedule FSD is getting. I believe this is their first SFB route that has not started out at 4x weekly as the other stations have.

Is Allegiant getting more MD-87's or are they using the two existing airplanes?

I don't know how we managed to irritate NW, but until they get their labor issues solved, I'm not too worried. Can't we all just get along?

ha! you'll go even longer on an MD-80 for AA....nearly all ORD-LAX, SFO, SEA, SAN flights are MD-80 type. Thats nearly 4 hours, this flight is barely 2.5...
