BA0215 Aug 13th--Go Around?

Sun Aug 14, 2005 10:48 am

This evening I was spotting at BOS out by Winthrop for the 4R landings, hoping to get the first BA flight back. I was expecting flight BA0215 to come in at about 6:38pm. Near that time I see a BA 747 what appeared to be taking off from 27. I wasn't expecting that because I didn't think they would have any planes left in BOS. I get back and check their arrivals and departures and see that 215 landed at 7:54. I'm assuming it had an aborted landing. Does an aborted landing actually make it over an hour delayed? It must have been coming in on fumes! They probably just turned off an engine or two while doing circles.  duck

BA0212 departs BOS at 6 p.m. ... could be what you saw taking off 35-40 minutes later.

An hour would be a long delay for a go-around, but of course it depends how busy the airport is and how they need to vector the flight to get it back in line. If there was a fuel issue, no question they could have gotten it in faster. But my guess is that BA0215 was just late, not surprising given the dramas in LHR.

BA had a 744 in BOS since Thursday. It actually departed as BA0212/11AUG, basically a 48 hour delay. The 215 arrived at around 19:50 this evening.

BA212 departed at 6:37L.
238 was cancelled earlier in the day.
214 departed about an hour late.

215 did arrive late, as it departed LHR about an hour late.

Hope that helps.b

Okay, that 48 hour delay was the thing. BA0212 for Aug 13 was cancelled.
