AA Holds Off On Veracruz

Wed Aug 17, 2005 4:18 am

American Eagle, who was planning on starting Dallas-Veracruz service this year, has put those plans on indefinite hold. They have asked the DOT to extend their dormant authority to 1 October 2006, but were hesitant to commit to the service, despite the fact they are asking to increase the dormancy period:

I've been hearing the next to Mexico destination by AA will be QRO.

Wish they'd reconsider Puebla!

I agree -- I think PBC, QRO and VER could each easily support a daily EMB140 or EMB145 to DFW.

I think Veracruz is a 70 seater flight. I worked a charter flight to VER two years ago, and saw many Americans all over the place. VER is a better option than PBC and QRO. (just my opinion)

I flew DFW-PBC a couple of times just to avoid the MEX hassle and it was great. In an old post (I think by MAH4546) for '98 or '99 schedules it showed AA's flights were a 100. I swore I remembered a 727. Did they change/downsize at one point, or was it always a Fokker and I just "remembered wrong"? (It happens!)

Thanks!

Interesting news. VER seems to be a good route to expand AA's presence in Mexico. In VER, people recognize CO very good, since they have been flying to VER for a long time. They even served the route once with B735's.

PBC has seen AA's MD80's and F100's... a B722 could have also been used on the DFW-PBC route.
