These are likely seasonal adjustments like NWA does every year. THey're not blaming the communities, they're just matching capasity to viable demand. If you charged $50 a ticket, you could probably fill up 757s or DC10s to the cities from FAR or GFK. In otherwords NWA is matching their capasity to the demand that will increase revenues and yields. They do this every few months to all their cities served. As the guy from FAR commented, he's not worried about it yet, because they do this all the time. IMO - it's just something else to complain about regarding NWA.
If much of the service to these cities become Airlink operations as a majority, there will be no change in ground handling. That is of course, unless the IAM contract is gutted to remove job protection sections that they have now. There are many cities in the NWA system that are completely or mostly Airlink service, but retain NWA ground staffing.
