US Changes Policy On Pets And Minors

Thu Aug 18, 2005 4:33 am

According to Yahoo News/Reuters US Airways is changing it's policies reguarding pets and minors to allign with America West's. Although I understand the one reguarding minors, as it reduces liability issues, makes sense. The one about the pets however, considering the profit to be made by it, has me a bit stumped. I can only imagine that it's due to the southwest region operations, were having a pets in an unairconditioned hold (ie: when the planes on the ground due to a delay, and they turn off the engines/APU) would be a terrible situation.

What changes have they made in regards to minors? If you've got a link (or otherwise perhaps something you could eMail), I'd really appreciate it; I work at a company that sells youth/student fares, and we've had the occasional run-in with US' minor policies (mandatory UM up to specific age - same with DL)...

Minors can only go direct/non-stop now.

Pets can not be carried at all, except for service animals.

I find it interesting that US' policies are far more conservative than those of UA or LH. US says 15 and above no UM, UA/LH 12 and above no UM.
What now?
