Expedia Displaying Emirates 727

Thu Aug 18, 2005 7:00 am

Was playing around on expedia and noticed that Expedia is showing some Emirates flights as being operated by 727-200s!!!

Thought it was funny...Emirates used to have 727s, but hasn't it been ages? About 15 years? Anyone know the reason for the mistake?

Have a look at this, click for larger view:

Bad research I would say on the part of Expedia! Simple as that!

Wonder what the seat map would have looked like if I had booked the ticket and selected seats.

If people complain about 3-4-3 across a 772, whats to be said about 10 abreast on a 727!!!  Wink Big grin

Ha Ha! 727 DXB-DEL would be a rough ride. I wonder if there is any IFE?  Smile

Same with some other flights. I was searching for different routes to Tahiti and Expedia kept offering me CDG to JFK on an Air France 727-200!
I have to talk to myself. No-one else listens!

Expedia has plenty of mistakes on their site, once I booked a DUS-CDG-BKK-MNL-BKK-CDG-DUS flight, the itinerary showed "no meal" on the CDG-BKK and BKK-CDG flight, of course I got more than only one meal. Then, according to Expedia, I should get a meal on the DUS-CDG flight... I got one but only because I was upgraded, the Eco Class - in which I was originally booked in - didn't get a meal but only drink service.

You should take sites like Expedia and Opodo, etc. not too serious, sometimes are the information incorrect.

Where did you get your information? What's your source? Post a link!!!  Wink

Sorry, just filling in for some of the information zealouts who are probably sleeping right now...

I saw the same thing on Expedia when I was looking to go the long way back to New York at X-mas time (I like stopping London, it's one of my favorite places to visit). Travelocity is worse--on Expedia.com, Emirates is the cheapest from SYD-CHC, and when you click for a more detailed fare, the low fare is maintained. However, when I found the same fare on Travelocity, the fare jumps to A$1500 on the detail screen!!!
Keep on truckin'...

While we're at it, this has been discussed before and should be moved to the "Expedia Mistakes Spotting" forum.  Wink

I believe it is in place of the 77W. Though I'm not sure why, as awhile back they displayed JFK-CDG on AF to be "BOEING 777-300 PASSENGER," not 727-200 as now. Weird, but whatever.

Not necessarily. Most of their data arrives automatically from the airline booking systems.

Exactly - they pull all of this data from the GDS systems, in the case of Expedia - Worldspan. If the info is filed wrongly on these then it will appear wrong on Expedia, Travelocity etc...

wait, speaking of Worldspan, could I get a seatassignment that would be valid on the 722 but would really be in Biz on the 772?

Unlikely, as the fare class associated with the seat you purchase would be Y and not J, regardless of the error in the seatmap loaded in the CRS by the carrier. And, to confirm the comment above, this would not be an Expedia problem - it sure sounds like the carrier made an error in updating the equipment type in the originating CRS (WSPN in this case).
