Delta LGW-ATL

Fri Aug 19, 2005 2:27 am

Hi all,

I was wondering what loads are like on this route throughout the year ? Is it a good route for Delta ? Im presuming it is so due to the amount of flights they do LGW-ATL.

Also, why has the 777 stopped for this summer and 4 used 767-300s instead ? Is the 777 needed elsewhere ?

Best regards,

I've flown this route on the 777 and 767-300 and both flights seemed totally full if that helps...

When I flew DL ATL-LGW (772) a few years ago during the winter, it was probably less than half full.

4 767-300ERs is a superior choice of frequency as well as more capacity.

I'm sure the 777 was used elsewhere... yes.

CDGATL went to 2 x 777 daily.

I've seen DL MD-11s at LGW in the past, so either ATL-LGW or CVG-LGW.

Atlanta only if I remember correctly.

How cheap do they discount this route in the winter? I'm possibly going to do a BOS-London trip this winter, and would like to fly DL if possible--it would be nice to try and do a SkyMiles upgrade to BizElite.

DL has used the M11 to CVG as well during several summer seasons.

It is Delta's most important international route after ATL-NRT and ATL/JFK-CDG, with the latter two obviously because of the AF partnership.

Will the KL flight AMS-ATL get a DL code as part of the skyteam alliance or does the NW code take precedence?

Once DL and KL finally start codesharing, I would certainly expect DL to codeshare on the KL flight and vv. Would also save DL from having to add an additional flight of their own to AMS  Wink .

I'm flying LGW-ATL in 2 weeks and checking the seat plan shows a pretty full aircraft. I'm not sure how representative of the actual occupancy this is, but it does show, booking wise anyway, that they are doing reasonably well.

Incidentally, I've had to take DL to task for changing our flight itinery no less than 5 times since we booked. Now, instead of the 763's out and back, and 763/752 ATL-SLC-ATL, we've got 738's on the internal trips, and seats in the last row. Why they offered us a choice in the first place is beyond me. I just hope the inflight service doesnt reflect this. My wife thinks it is because airlines tend to load parties from the rear.

Whatever, I'm looking forward to 9 days in the States and taking lots of pics. Big grin
