Sun Aug 21, 2005 5:13 am

Hi all

I was just wondering will the photos the F16 pilots took be released or will they be kept secret as they was taken by the military?

Cheers

It's not about AIRBUS. it's not about BOEING. It's all about the beauty of FLYING.

I've seen worse, and it wouldn't be too graphic.

Anyway, even if they are going to be released, you would probably have to wait at least until the investigation is concluded, and I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't released at all. "Leaked" by someone is a whole different story, though.  Wink

I've already seen photos of the crash site which have been fairly graphic - bodies in pretty unpleasant condition.

By asking this I am in no way a sick or twisted person I am jus intrigued about the whole incident and also by being able to see the pictures for ourselves maybe we can lay to rest all the discussions in other threads.

Yes sorry I know, it's just that I was thinking about these pilots photographing them without anything they could do, must've been a hard moment for them too...

I know where you are coming from, aviation disasters have always intrigued me. Being interested in the photos and enjoying them are two totally different things.

More than "wishing" to see them, it is more of an interest into these accidents. I find myself looking through the database over on airdisaster.com only out of interest. Do I find these horrible stories amusing or enjoyable? Absolutely no. However, there is A LOT to be learned from previous accidents and I think that's why we should study them.

There are a lot of lessons to be learned from previous accidents, lessons that apply to all aspects of daily life, not just flying. The simplest one is the fact that a little mistake will generate another one which in turn will create an other one until a a chain of events is born that will end up bringing the plane down. And not all are stories that end badly. Remember the "Gimli Glider" and the incredible chain of errors that finally produced the result we all know about.

Mel, just checked out that ogrish site. That is one nasty place to surf. Some really disgusting stuff there. Reminds me of the gore gallery. Just want to warn everyone.

All

Not one to stem the curious, it is after all human nature, I do not believe this is the correct place to be asking this kind of question and advertising either Orgish or Rotton.

If the video is ever released officially (which I doubt) then I guess you would be at your leisure to view, however, given that this is an open forum to all, I do not think this is the best place to discuss this issue or the web sites it has links too.

No offence to anybody.

Best Regards

Not too sure how much information you could glean from photos of a crash site -- I think if you want to solve any mysteries you'd have to be on the ground. If you're interested in these photos you can always search on Yahoo! news photos and Reuters tends to run a lot of graphic content pictures on Yahoo! in the days after an accident. The two photos that were on that voyeuristic site Ogrish were AP photos that were released on wires to news agencies and were on Yahoo!

Happy surfing.
