I am fairly certain that UPS, FedEx and Tradewinds lobbied for the lengthening of the crosswind runway. It currently sits at 6600ft. They are supposed t obe taking it to 10,000ft like the main runway now. One a really windy crosswind day, the heavies still have the land on the main. If you have ever seen that happen, you'd understand why.
Currently, Tradewinds is not using their 747s in GSO
except for maint. Someone told me that there is a possibility of a GSO
to West Coast 747 flight. I dunno, Tradewinds wants 8 747s to go with their 20 or so A300s.
As for the FedEx L10 being scrapped, I have no idea. There's a ATI jet being scrapped at TIMCO now.
