You know with all this hype surrounding the upcoming livery, you know it's still going to boil down to a conservative mix of white, blue, and possibly green and orange stripes and tail logo.

Many of us are going to look at it and say "you mean THAT'S IT?"

It will most likely not be anything new or breathtaking. Just a same conformist variant of all the existing liveries already out there.

Of course others will be foaming at the mouth oohing and awwing over it, talking about how "refreshing" and "modern" it is; how it's now "their favorite livery of all time".

Of course these are usually the same people for whom ANYTHING "new", even if it's an all white fuselage with nothing on it, would consider it a "refreshing" and "modern" livery that will be their all time favorite.....solely and entirely....because it's "new".

..and that's only until the next "new livery" comes along.

Hmm...not bad. But I think it would look better on a Frontier jet than a combined HP/US.

But I like your thinking.

How original, an USA 3000 rip off

Really boring livery, It doesn't even come close to the black, stylish US livery

Will the prefix(es) still be US and will the callsign still be US AIR? Or do HP and Cactus remain?

I think the current livery is much better, and still one of the best in the industry. This one is okay but I hate the way the stripes end in the front. Looks like a frown.  Sad

Indeed, I like the old livery much better. The old one is one of my favorites actually. Together with Air Jamaica. Now that's a colorful livery!!! (Or the old Surinam Airways livery, much better than the current one)

More and more US airlines are adding white, to be the main livery color. The gray of United is gone, and now the black of US is gone too. Im not saying that the liveries are boring, but theres too many with white!

That's what a few of us were wondering while we were waiting for the new plane to take off at the Fire Training Center; before I had to leave for work.

Hopefully, they'll just replace the titles but keep the livery intact. Who knows, maybe there will be a few more special liveries... Philadelphia Eagles livery anybody???? After all US is (to my knowledge) still the 'official' airline of the Philadelphia Eagles... yeah I know the team actually uses NW.

I wonder how much the design consultants were paid to come up with that boring and poor excuse for a colour scheme?

The US livery was, to some, a little dark but it had style and distinction. America West was very distinctive whilst this is just bland and based on liveries of a number of airlines which are now defunct

new paint makes sense....white top fuselage will be far better for cooling in the heat like PHX and LAS and appears to be far easier to paint saving money. Red stripe looks just a hint of the old psa smile at the begining..think that was intentional i read. blue bottom hides the dirt nicely. overall a cost saving paint job on several fronts. think they gave up on the tail though....sort of looks like they ran out of ideas by the time they got back that far....something lighter would have been better IMHO.

The design looks a bit like Ryanairs old livery. Not the colors and the tail though.

I think its ok. Nothing bad about it. I do have to agree with the USA3000 comment though. I had the same thought this morning while passing a USA3000 billboard on the way to the office. There is plenty of room on that nose for the PSA smile. Might not exactly be appropriate when transiting PHL but.........

Yea like someone already said yet another US airline goes to the Euro white style. First Delta and Continental who have had the white for a while now, but then just recently JetBlue, United, AirTran, and now US

It's not a horrible livery. But as I mentioned yesterday, it IS unremarkable, predictable, and certainly will not turn any heads. Now bring back the heritage Piedmont, PSA, Allegheny, and original USAir "rust" colors, and then maybe you'll garner some attention.

So where are the foamers who get a hard on over anything that just happens to be "new"?

Ehhh, it's quite disappointing. I was hoping for something exciting, but nope. The nose is kind of cheap looking, and they way they redid the HP grey stripe, is cheesy also. The tail, no change, thye needed to change that i think. Well, thats my opinion.

From the press release:

The new livery is a fusion of both carriers’ existing designs, featuring updated editions of the US Airways stylized version of the flag and the waving stripes inspired by those that stream across the sides of current America West aircraft. Near the aircraft door, the airline has positioned a Heritage mark that incorporates the classic logos of some of the largest airlines that have merged over the years to create the new US Airways: Allegheny Airlines, America West, Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) and Piedmont Airlines. In addition, "throwback" aircraft, which will be painted entirely in the classic liveries of these airlines, will pay permanent tribute to each of them.

I don't think it's bad. It could be a lot worse and in my opinion it's a lot better than HP's paint scheme. The maintance will be a lot better on this than the current US livery as all of you know many of their planes were looking pretty bad. Perhaps they will come up with some theme paint schemes?

Personally, I like the previous 'black' US livery better, but this one isn't too bad. I was expecting something a little bit more exciting, though. And I bet that this new paint job will save US some money, right?

Much more Leisure Air than US3000......... A bit disappointing in its lack of originality and apparently not much thought was put into it to be honest. But it's smart enough I guess. The old US livery was an expensive nightmare to keep looking decent - just check out all those "chipped paint" examples throughout the system, and the HP one is too western-orientated for the new network. A bit more work might have been put into the tail design, though. It looks like an afterthought.

Is that some sort of shadow on the rear fuselage or a livery feature transferred from the HP striping that I can't quite make out in the pics?

Overall - I'd give it 7 out of 10 for the end result, despite only 3 out of 10 for effort.
