FedEx Feeder Do-328?

Sat Aug 27, 2005 1:06 pm

Someone on another aviation forum reported seeing a Do-328 in FX colors down in Kinston, NC. Did Mountain Air Cargo acquire a new type and can anyone confirm it ? If true, that's a new one on me.
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

Nope...MAC has ATR 42's and 72's. FedEx Feeders is retiring most of their F-27 fleet and switching to the ATR's. There are no Do's anywhere in the FedEx Feeder Fleet.

The only airline with Mountain Air in the name that has a Do-328 is Central Mountain Air up in Canada:

Sounds like someone saw an ATR42 and thought it was a 328. To the untrained eye, the two types would actually look quite similar--high wing/T-tail configuration with twin props, similar tail profile, similar landing gear fairings, etc.

I'm truly sorry you're a moron, Nosedive. Honest I am. But FedEx operates exactly zero Dornier's. None. Nada. Not a single one. Nor does MAC have any either.

What you saw was an ATR 42 and you couldn't tell the difference.

Do you think maybe Nosedive was being sarcastic? Just a little?

Me? Never.

Heh, not my problem that you're too thick to understand sarcasm. And don't be a copout like Kiwinanday and say "I was just playing along," either.

EDIT, Syntax

If you do see an ATR-42 from a rear to cornering rear view, especially at a distance, it does look just like a 328.
Good Luck to all Skyway Pilots! It's been great working with you!

Technically Fedex only operates MD-11s, DC/MD-10s, 727s, A300's and A310s. All the feeder operations are operated by other companies. So before you call someone an idiot...

What I actually said...

"Nope...MAC has ATR 42's and 72's. FedEx Feeders is retiring most of their F-27 fleet and switching to the ATR's. There are no Do's anywhere in the FedEx Feeder Fleet."

"I'm truly sorry you're a moron, Nosedive. Honest I am. But FedEx operates exactly zero Dornier's. None. Nada. Not a single one. Nor does MAC have any either.

No where did I say FedEx operated ATRs or Do's. I did say FedEx does NOT operated Do's, which is correct.

FedEx Feeder aircraft are owned by FedEx and leased to the operator's. So, yes, they are FedEx aircraft. No, FedEx does not "operate" them.

I got it.

I missed the sarcasm. The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned as to whether you are a moron or not.  Silly
