|Quoting 777ER (Reply 7):|
Heard on the radio today that fuel shortages is due to contamination of fuel supplies.
Apparently the issue is with the anti-static additive - there is a significant ammount of fuel which doesn't contain enough of it. Goodness knows how it managed to avoid quality control, and end up at the JUHI.
|Quoting United Airline (Reply 5):|
I travelled on SQ from SYD to HKG via SIN back in 2003 and there was a fuel shortage problem and all flights were given 30% fuel.
Yes, this is the second time in recent years that Sydney has had a serious preoblem with fuel supply. From memory, the 2003 situation wasn't to do with contamination, but with a lack of actual supply.
It is really quite ridiculous that the largest airport in this country could suffer from this problem, and even worse that it is the second time that fuel supply has been compromised there in 3 years...
