|Quoting Jb (Reply 7):|
Well Maersk/Sterling and Fly Me are cadidates for the operation since they are partly owned by Fons the Icelandic investment company.
Jb, just wanted to remind you of a few matters.
Sterling is not partly owned by the Icelandic investment company Fons, but -fully- owned by them!
Sterling now even has a new CEO: Almar Örn Hilmarsson, and you might have guessed... He is an Icelander. Half of Sterling´s board consists of Icelanders as well:
Palmi Haraldsson - Chairman of the Board
Maersk Air is now also fully owned by Fons, no changes on the board (yet).

I do not know what the stake of Fons Ehf in FlyMe is, it wouldn´t surpise me if that is 100% as well
Btw: Icelandic companies are doing rather well in the aviation business at the moment as you can see in the next news items:
GROUP, the parent company of Icelandair, has purchased 1,51% of the easyJet shares in addition to the 11.5% that the group already held in the company. FL
GROUP therefore has 13,01% of the easyJet shares
AVION GROUP - Icelandic aviation and shipping company
The aviation activities are represented by a merger of Icelandic airlines, Air Atlanta Icelandic and Islandsflug together with handling service provider SouthAir. In addition, leisure travel service provider, Exel Airways Group forms part of this division as well as maintenance service provider, Avia Technical Services. There are currently 67 Boeing and Airbus aircraft in the fleet with a total number of 3,200 employees involved in their aviation activities.
Recently Avion acquired a 19% stake in Nevada based US charter airline Casino Express.
