BWI - Thurgood Marshall Airport

Thu Sep 01, 2005 6:17 pm

Starting on Oct. 1, Baltimore-Washington Airport will be renamed to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. It is a great idea to honor a great man, but what a loooooooong name.

I apologize if this has already been covered, but I did a search and did not find anything.

They can add any name they want to it, but it will still be BWI or Friendship to Marylanders, just as DCA is just National No Reagan. As in Atlanta, it is still Hartsfield to me, the hell with the Jackson part.
Where did everybody go?

I find it really funny that in Southwest's Online Timetable, they call it Newark Freedom International Airport. I seem to remember the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey naming it Newark LIBERTY International Airport, no freedom in the name...
