LHR-PRG London -Prague

Fri Sep 02, 2005 7:17 am

What carriers fly this route?

How busy is it?

Also, as an aside, I looked at RyanAir to see if they fly from LHR-PRG. I just couldnt believe the fares. HOw do they make a buck?!

I flew BA on this route just over a year ago and it was packed both ways.
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

Ryanair (note how it's spelt) doesn't fly from LHR so how did you manage to find an unbelievably low fare?

I think in terms of volume the route performs quite well, however on the most part the traffic is mainly low yield tourist and VFR traffic, so as to how profitable it is im not sure.

Trident , i think mirrodie was speaking in general regarding how low all the prices seem.

Because not all fares are the same. The later people book, the more expensive the fares become.

just to make it clear:

LHR - CSA, BA
STN - CSA, EasyJet
LGW - EasyJet, CSA*

* - CSA axes LGW starting from the winter 2005/2006 schedule (if three London airport are too many I'd get rid of STN instead of LGW)

BTW, Ryanair serves not PRG but BRQ - a city some 220km SE of Prague, which means you have to add at least 3-4 hours to get to/from Prague respectively and preferrably go by train not bus because the D1 highway is just congested and a nightmare with frequent diversions and jams due to accidents.
Take

You are right.

BTW, one more correction: CSA axed LGW already - as of 01.09.2005

Well, I was told by a sister of a woman living in Prague that Ryanair was a way to go.

Then again, come to think of it, she's married to an diplomat from Ireland and they live in Prague (so I guess he;s hte Irish diplomat to Prague) so thats why she probably mentioned RyanAir. (its the correct spelling, no?)

So if going LHR-PRG,the choices sounds limited. Only CSA, Easyjet, BA and Smartwings?

So why don't they fly to Ireland from PRG with CSA or Aer Lingus? The prices to DUB or Cork are very competitive and full-frills service in the case of CSA - I don't know about Aer Lingus - but for sure better treatment than with Ryanair.
I really don't know why anyone sane would bother taking the hassle nd time to travel to BRQ just to save few pounds. I mean it's a trip across half of the damn country.

Smartwings axed Gatwick recently. If you insist on Heathrow, then I agree the options are somewhat limited, but again we are talking about HEATHROW, therefore no surprise it's served by respective flag carriers only. So the options are:

Heathrow - CSA, BA
Gatwick - BA, EasyJet
Stansted - CSA, EasyJet

I dont think the sister gave me accurate information. I think she may have been confused is all, so thats why I figured I'd clarify here  Smile
