Katrina And Comair/DL

I just thought I would share with everyone,

Many people within Comair have suggested that Comair make donations to the American Red Cross for hurricane relief, in lieu of our annual holiday hams. Many employees have agreed to this wonderful cause.

If any of my collegues out there are unaware of this option and would like to participate, please see your station manager, or contact corporate communications! The victims of Hurricane Katrina need all of the help and support they can get -- and every little bit helps!

In addition to donations of water, Comair has continued to partner with Delta, making our aircraft available as needed to deliver supplies.

For those Delta Elites out there with some extra miles floating around, Delta is also making it possible for customers to donate SkyMiles to the American Red Cross through the SkyWish program to assist the relief efforts. Fellow Delta Connection carrier SkyWest has set up a program where employees can donate user or vacation hours which will be turned into money at the employee's current rate of pay, then matched 100% by SkyWest. (A similar program was set up post-Asian Tsunami) We can also donate money as well. The money will be used in the disaster area with priority given to SkyWest and ASA families affected by this horrible disaster.

We have pilots, flight attendants and ground crew willing to operate relief flights into MSY as well, if we can make it happen. Because we don't have aircraft allocated to flying in/out of MSY it would probably require an aircraft being taken out of service, so that may be unlikely, but the willingness is there nonetheless.

Head in the clouds... yet feet planted firmly on the ground.
