Tue Sep 06, 2005 12:58 am

The Irish press report of a Piper Archer Cherokee flying from Dublin to Cardiff which disappeared yesterday at around 12:30pm.
The Aircraft was tracked by Shannon Air Traffic Control, and handed to British controllers. It is believed two people were on board.

Our thoughts are with the passengers and their families. As of yet there does not appear to be any word...

No Sooner did I post the topic, then RTE release the following:

Body found off Welsh coast

05 September 2005 16:56

Search and rescue teams looking for a plane which disappeared while traveling from Dublin to Wales yesterday have recovered a body.

They have also found the wreckage of the aircraft off the Pembrokeshire coast.

A couple in their 60s took off in the light aircraft from the Weston Aerodome in Dublin at about midday yesterday.

It was due to arrive at Cardiff just before 3pm when it lost radar contact.

The single engine piper Cherokee had enough fuel for four hours. The area the couple intended travelling through had poor weather with severe fog.

Millford Haven Coastguard say they have now completed the search and rescue phase of the incident.

May they rest in peace..
