AA MD-11 At IAD?

Wed Sep 07, 2005 9:24 am

I was linked to this picture showing an AA MD-11 at Dulles in June of 2000. I don't remember that aircraft being scheduled there. I figured it was either a sub for the IAD-LAX route or they started a route I don't know about. Anyone have any info?

American Airlines out of some sheer genious when short of an aircraft decided to substiture the service for an MD-11 service... At a wild poke in the dark **rolls eyes**

Um, what? I'm sure it actually was an equipment sub.

KaddyUK,

With all do respect, if you are gonna insult someone, atleast try to make some sense while spelling correctly!

Either way, I am also intrgued by this photo. It is a very rare sight and there must be a story behind it, even if you can't care less **rolls eyes**

Knowing Kev, he's probably posting under the influence....... no

Like everyone else is saying, more than likely an equipment sub. DL has been known on occassion to sub a 777 on some routes when they have a spare sitting around. AA probably had this one as an operational spare.

Considering that it is in the month of June, and it is thunderstorm season in the northeast, my guess is that it is a diversion from JFK.

Just a thought.
