Jet Airways To Fly To Birmingham According To...

Wed Sep 07, 2005 8:50 pm

According to The Economic Times of India, Jet Airways is looking to fly to Birmingham from India.

"The airline already operates a daily flight to London, which it proposes to double this winter besides introducing a thrice-weekly flight to Birmingham."

What do you think will happen in reality guys? I know AI is doing very well with its flights to BHX (just look at the loads, though I know that doesn't always mean $$$). Where would 9W fly to...ATQ, DEL or BOM?

They cant operate the A340 out of BHX - runway is too short, so i'd guess it looks unlikely for now.
What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

9w in the past has said that they would like to fly to BHX similarly to how AI is... DEL-ATQ-BHX on the days that AI isnt flying. They do not seem to be interested in flying to YYZ at the moment, and the flight quite end up being extended to JFK, YVR, ORD, etc....

I've heard that Jet wants to start BHX services from DEL via ATQ on opposite days to AI!

Make more sense to fly from BOM?

I guess it's 332 services for BHX  Sad

Would BHX ever make the runway longer, especially for 9W?

I'm a bit confused.  confused

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Air India operate DEL-ATQ-BHX-YYZ with a 777? Then why isn't a A340 able to use the same runway? Does the A340 have a really long takeoff run in comparison to the 777?

If this is true, it is an implication for an interesting alliance...

340 not able to land in BHX? Does it need a longer runway than a 777? I thought PIA did once operate a 747 to BHX??  Confused

Yep true, BHX's runway 15/33 is 2605m x 46m!
A fully loaded 343 needs around 3,000m, whereas a 777 needs only around 2,600 (Roughly)

True, on many occasions 747's have been at BHX!
Even last year, BHX had a BA 744!
I'm not sure how much runway length a 747 needs!
Also BHX has received 773ER's and 773's from EK, not sure about 340's!

It will happen its just a matter of when.

BHX can handle 747's but only for short hall journeys. On long hall flights the PAX loads are not 100%.

I hope in the near future BHX extends runway 33/15 because the demand for BHX is so high.
