I've used the suites a few times. There are two places, one directly at the end of the bed when fully extended and one between the bar and full extent of the seat able to take a medium sized roll-on. I carry a roll-on and a briefcase (detachable from the top of the roll-on) and when I first used the product I was also carrying a medium weight winter coat. There was a private coat locker in front of the suite in the space between it and the next suite. This makes life so much easier for a passenger. The next best arrangement in my view is aboard the CX
Airbuses in first, where you can fit your brief case in a large arm level locker between the seat and window which seemed to be at least twice as large as the one that used to exist in the upper deck of 744s before some carriers stuffed it up with some sort of air-conditioning 'improvement.'
I really enjoyed the EK
flights. The cabin is very quiet at all stages of the flight, I have to say far quieter than anything else in current service from either maker. The geometry of the seat when used as a bed is perfect for stargazing out the windows (much nicer than the artificial sky in the ceiling) and they brought up dawn lighting on approach to Dubai plus the sound of birds, I liked that.
Their IFE system is by far the best I have used too and I thought the level of service and catering was excellent. The only real negative for me was the shambolical boarding process at Sydney Airport, and while I like Dubai Airport, it isn't designed to minimise distance as much as possible.
At the moment this is the premium product to beat.
