What's New About The AF358 Accident?

Sun Sep 11, 2005 2:22 am

Hello everybody,

The last topic about the subject was too old and too long, so I open this one.

More than one month after the AF358 accident in Toronto, fortunately without victims, I don't see any official rapport about the reals causes of the accident. The only thing I know is that the plane landed approximately at the middle of the runway, and there was not the case of mechanical failure (reversers, brakes, lightning-related problems).

So, I would like to hear what the investigation board has found about this story. The pilot error, which is very probable, would take less time than a month to determine, with both blackboxes recovered and the entire crew alive.

If they did know, then they would not say it on a public forum. Nothing has really been said publicly since the crash.

I can say this however as a person who drives by the site fairly often: the wreckage has been cleaned up and moved to a hanger in Ottawa. The airport service road is now open and all the fences have been fixed.

I doubt that we will hear much for a while. These investigations can take years!

Yes, there aren't official reports, but I cannot wonder WHY ?

Yes, for the complete report we must usually wait for years, but the preliminary reports are quiet fast to rise, even in more complicated/tragic accidents.

In this particular case, the facts are quiet simple, the investigation should be quiet simple too. They have the rare opportunity to have at discretion all the data needed.

I know for a fact that additional hearings will be performed starting tomorrow in Ottawa.

So let's wait and see.
