747SP At CLE

Sun Sep 11, 2005 3:47 am

I just drove by CLE and saw a 747SP parked on the tarmac or one of the taxiways. I believe it is one of the Arab sheiks visiting the Cleveland Clinic - does anyone know when it will depart?

No I think it is the one that is normally in CAK!

Oh that's interesting - I wondered why it wasn't parked near the IX Center like most of the flights coming from the Middle East for visits to the Clinic.

I believe it is based out of CAK, though right now I can not remember the history of this plane, give me some time and I'll get you an answer.

Maybe I was too far away when I saw it, but it did not seem to have the same logo on the tail as seen in the picture in the other thread.

In any event, it was pretty cool seeing this rare bird in CLE. Then again, seeing anything bigger than a 753 in CLE is pretty cool.

That isn't the CAK based 74SP - it's from the UAE. Showed up here on Labor Day.

Indeed, having seen them both it is not the Earnest Angley plane 747SP normally found at CAK. It is a UAE plane. Rampkontroller got a shot of it if you want to know what we are talking about. http://747sp.com/viewphoto.asp?568

I believe it departed today around 1Pm, because I heard what sounded like a large fighter jet taking off, but I have seen this 747SP land here before and the sound was very familiar.

In the other thread there's mention about Jerry Falwell chartering a 747SP operated by Castle Aviation. Falwell has been at the Cleveland Clinic for some time. Perhaps he is going home.

However, I also think that I saw the UAE markings on the one parked on Pad 3.

Nope. Not based out of CAK either. The flag on the tail was UAE, I believe. Either way it was from the middle east. We watched him depart today. The one at CAK is a different airplane with a US registration.

Hmmph... weird. Castle flies it and Jerry Fallwell owns it... seems to me a US reg would be appropriate.

Actually, I thought Earnest Angley Ministries owned it. Anyway, there was an article in today's paper about the Crown Prince of Dubai visiting the Great Lakes Science Center after a visit to the Cleveland Clinic, having stayed at the Intercontinental Suites with his large entourage. Do I would say it is confirmed this in the UAE plane carrying a UAE royal.

Fallwell, Angely.... same thing.  wink  Saw it take off the other day, good stuff. Later in the day a flight of F-18s took off... tack that on to the B-1 and T-birds from the airshow last week and CLE is downright interesting!
