Avaition Fantasies

Tue May 09, 2000 8:53 am

Do any of you have an aviation fantasy? I have one and it may sound crazy but i thought i would share if anyway.

I was thinking (and i honestly dont know how i would react if this situation was reality) what if both of the pilots flying (a commercial jet) were to pass out or become unable to fly the plane for what ever reason and i was the only one on board that even knew the slightest about flying ( i am a student pilot). I thought, "how great it would be to have the control of an airliner and land the thing safely." I kinda wish for it to happen to me some day. I dont know why i have this crazy though but i have it everytime i fly.

Anyway, that is mine...a little far fetched, i know.

I'd be interested in hearing other dreams or fantasies...RELATED TO AVIATION ONLY. Keep it clean, or at least PG-13.

You're not alone Ken -- I don't think there's a student/private pilot in the world who doesn't dream about that happening.

LOL @ "RELATED TO AVIATION ONLY. Keep it clean, or at least PG-13"...... I have seen posts on this forum where people say a 777 gives them a boner, kinda sickening.... My fantasy would be to fly IN (i am 15, dont know how to control an airplane, just like flying in them) all the widebodies currently in use by airlines in an around the world trip stopping at ATL, LHR, CDG, DXB, SIN, HKG, NRT, SYD and LAX.

My fantasy is to take the longest flight in the world: Chicago-Hong Kong on United in First or Business Class. 16 hours in a comfortable seat with awesome food and entertainment, sounds good to me.

I like the MEL fantasy too.

Mine is the opposite of MEL's. I'd like to board a widebody and take off and land every 20 minutes or so for about 20 hours. That's the thrill of flying for me.

I once had the opportunity to fly an A320 training simulator, and ever since have wanted to fly the real thing. Just one problem, I am not a pilot!!!!

to be able to stop what i'm doing, and get trained, and still afford a family at the same time. unfortunately, i would need to win the big game for that.

Hi there

Mate, you arent the only student pilot out there who's had that fantasy, I think about it every time I go somewhere on a flight.

Its one of those things where you wish I would happen but you also wish it doesnt happen. It would be great to be in the position where your the only person on the plane who can fly it in the event of both pilots being incapacitated but I wouldnt want to have to go through something like that as just a passenger.

Regards

Greg

Mine is to be in a plane with terrorists planning to hijack it. And as soon as they get up from their seats I disarm one of them (who was sitting right next to me, so I guess I figured out his plans ) and get rid of the other one. And then that Airline gives free tickets for life to me and to my family. WOW that would be awesome

I am very lucky to have reached many of my fantasies. But the one I wish for most a this point I'm affraid is out of reach; That would be to fly with the US Air Froce Thunderbirds, or US Navy Blue Angels. WOW....

I thought I was the only warped one that had that fantasy*L* They land damm quick compared to what I have flown though. I'd also like have a job where I lived out of a suitcase and stayed in hotels all over the world, flying either first class or in the jump seat. I spose either a pilot or FA job would offer that. Plus I wanna buy an about to be scrapped 747 and have the cockpit as my office, the upper deck as my living quarters and the lower deck as a car park, workshop and party area.

UAL757:

I hear you, man. Although I'm happy career-wise, alot of times I wish I could drop it all and start taking flying lessons and then wind up flying the big iron for a major. But alas, I have a family to support, so it's not going to happen.

Hey, I live in NJ - maybe we could split a Big Game ticket?

yeah, but we also have less of a chance of winning as dropping a penny off the empire state building an hitting a relative. it's true, it's true.

My fantasy is to re-open Mac Donnel Douglas. I would be build a new factory in Shannon in Ireland (It would help the local economy) and start producing the MD11X.
Well I can dream can't I?

Well, if you worked for United you could test-fly the widebodies when they come out of the maintenance hanger and do touch and go's in the pattern at OAK on 29 in a 747...

it's an interesting sight...

My dream would to be flying a Virgin Atlantic plane from JFK to LHR and when the FA asked me if he/she could get me anything, I would reply "An upper class sleep suit, the Kids meal (I'm a picky eater when it comes to airline food), and the Orange Kit (the bag you get on the seat- the last color I need for my collection) and of course, I would recieve all three items, land into Heathrow, pick up a giant Kinder Egg (I love those things- can't get them in the States!) and fly back just in First Class. LOL

1. Similar with flywithken. I kinda want it to happen but not want it to happen. Hire a Cessna Skyplane 182 and a pilot. pilot collapses and I have to fly it. I've checked out their site and the cockpit layout is SO similar to the Microsoft's flight sim.
2. Fly on a 777!!!!! What 777 flights are there from Hong Kong except the Emirates' Bangkok Dubai route?

Nap of the earth flying for sure, in something you strap on, like an F-16. I did it in a Twin Huey, and it was FAN-TAS-TIC!!!! - so multiplying that experince by about six fold...I wouldn't be able to explain!! If it was something big, probably like the suggestion above, just touch and goes for a couple of hours(unless, like the other, it was a BONE...:D)

Oooh, it'd be incredible to fly a B-1B bomber in low-level attack profile, evading enemy SAMs and triple-A and everything they're shooting at you... finally unleashing tremendous destruction. B-1s carry something like 81 500-pounders. ggggggggg.....

I would LOVE to have a 747SP mansion!! Get about 10 of those brilliant planes, connect them all by way of a passage, and paint them in really funky schemes! I would have huge jacuzzi's, indoor swimming poolz, and all that cool stuff......And even better, it must be situated on a hill overlooking the sea on one side (with my own beach) and on the other side, the biggest, noisiest, busiest international airport on the other!!!!!

I have quite a few, and all of them have alrady been mentioned:

First of all, Ken and Raddog2, you are not alone, either.
I'd like to remain the only one capable for landing the iron bird after the two pilots could not manage anything else. And I am not a pilot student.

Second: do a lot of touch and goes. No matter if it was a 773, a 732 or a DC9.

Fly my next trip to SYD in 1st. or ex.

For sure: FLY THE CONCORDE

Look at this:
My 1st MUST is the 744. My 2nd, the 340. My 3rd, the 777.
My next trip BCN-ZRH-(SIN?/KUL?/BKK?)-SYD and back has some possibilities of bein elonged SYD-(GIG?/GRU?/EZE?)-SSA-BCN
So, why not?
BCN-ZRH whatever plane and company
ZRH-KUL MH 777
KUL-SYD QF 744
SYD-GIG/GRU/EZE whatever
EZE/GIG/GRU-SSA whatever
SSA-LIS TP 340
LIS-BCN whatever
This could be a good plan, and a fantasy that could become TRUE!!

Best turbulences

I agree with Dnalor. I want to get a 747, split the cost with a few guys and just fly

My other fantasy is to go to the cockpit to find my baby flying it. Man, I'd just put that thing on auto pilot and open up her hangar and full thottle!!!

Mmmm...live the fantasy of flying, living out of suitcase and sleeping in hotels all over (trust me Dnalor, it's not that glamorous)...but as a passenger, not pilot I must admit to getting an adrenalin rush on the way to catch a flight, and slight tingling upon take-off (pre-orgasmic?)- sorry I tried to keep it clean.

Real fantasy is getting in the cockpit and turning on autopilot, Weeeeee - you know the rest. Probaby explains my fascination with pilots,
ahem,I live 8 miles from Dulles and fall asleep to the roar and awake with first flight out roar - sweet dreams

Take alook at my homepage link on my infopage honey *grin* that AC has autopilot btw*wink*

I also love the feeling of hanging out at the airport just b4 a pax flight, moreso I used to love the feeling of greasing it on (the aircraft that is) and then walking the walk back to the flight office with people watching what I was upto. OK it might sound big headed, but it was an added bonus of becoming a pilot that I wasnt going to ignore*L*

I would start my own airline, all first class, operating flights with 737s and 717s and A330s for long-haul. My airline would serve every continent, except for Antarctica, and have the most helpful inflight service anywhere in the world.

Fly on the Space shuttle - especially the re-entry and landing phases. - Don't fancy the take-off much though.

This may be morbid and slightly off the main subject, but how many of you have very realistic dreams of plane crashes?
