Delta Flight From ATL To MXP Diverts In JAX

Tue Sep 13, 2005 7:38 am

Saw this on the local news last night,

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/t...es/news-article.aspx?storyid=44089

Delta 777 from Atlanta to Milan, diverted to Jacksonville, FL after passengers heard unexplained banging sound from below the main cabin. The airplane was looked over and resumed it's flight a few hours later. I was wondering why they diverted to JAX, Don't flights from ATL to Europe usually go via the Northeast US/ Canada to cross the pond?
