Tue Sep 13, 2005 1:50 pm

Hey all, what are all the routes that NWA uses the 742 on now?

MY friend would like to know.

Japan to Hawaii flights have NW 742s every so often.

i saw a NW B747-200 in LAX when i flew out to HNL on HA. this was on July 28th. i'm not sure if they use any -400's on the LAX-NRT route...i've always seen the -200's flying in from NRT.

Bluewave 707 is right tho...HNL has a mix of -400's and -200's.

Saw a NW 742 in NGO in August, schedueled as NW 24, to GUM. Usually this is operated by a 757...

Cheers

Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.

NRT-HNL
NRT-GUM
NRT-SPN
NRT-LAX

I'm assuming that NW does use the -400 on NRT-LAX on some days. The schedule shows 747 for LAX instead of 742 or 744 as with other destinations with 747-200 or -400 service.

Actually, Northwest flies from NRT-GUM...not NGO...and it's MOSTLY operated by a 742...there is an occasional 744 (like when N627US crash-landed on August 19) or an Airbus 330...but MOSTLY 742s...they only have one daily flight so far that arrives around 2:20 pm and departs back to NRT at 4:00 pm

Actually, NW has two flights to HNL from NRT, not one. The B744s and B742s are not to say "mixed" with one flight, but are dedicated to their own flight. For example, NW10/NW9 (the first NW flight to arrive from NRT, and leaves HNL about an hour later) is only operated by the B744. NW22/NW21 which arrives HNL just after NW22 and leaves around 15:00 LT, is only operated by the B742.

So the NW B742s do indeed come in daily to HNL, along with the B744; they are both used on different flights.

NW also flies their B742s to GUM, from NRT. One of their B742s recently had a nose gear collapse on the runway at GUM, although I'm not too sure about situation of the aircraft right now. It was one of their planes wearing the new NW livery, and it really didn't look that good flat on its nose, tail up high.

I've seen more than two NW B742s at NRT, obviosuly besides the Hawaii and Guam flights, they must come from the U.S. mainland.

Hope that helps!

So it looks like NRT-LAX and NRT-SPN. Forgot about that one.
