Airline Aircraft Being Phased Out

Wed Sep 14, 2005 4:47 pm

What will be some current aircraft that are not going to be flying say by 2010 for major airlines? Maybe the MD80? What will be their replacements?

Let me see.
KLM has one (PH-ALR), CSA has one (OK-XDM), SAS has one (SE-CFP of Flygande Veteraner), Icelandair has one (TF-NPK), Air Atlantic has one (G-AMRA), Finnair has one (OH-LCH of Airveteran),...
Pretty much major all this.
Ok, still kidding  Smile

You do realize that you just listed a significant portion (If I'm not mistaken) of NW's fleet?  Smile

So does Delta and American! Hey certainly the cost of operation would be significantly less!  Big grin

But not to be confused with Continental's 767-200ERs, which have a lot of years left in them.

AA retired the 767-200s, but not the -200ERs. The -200ERs are still flying transcon routes.

I think you'll find Aloha will be operating 737-200's inter-islands as long as they can find parts for them...

Will any airline being flying passenger MD-11's in 2010?

I'd say to add the Airbus A300 and possibly A310 to the list. I can't see too mnay of these around in 2010

Yea, Delta annouced they were trying to get rid of their 762s, selling 11 of them (they only had around 13-14 to begin with from what I've read). They were supposed to totally get rid of them by December this year.

AS will is in the process of phasing out thier 732 combi's of which I believe there are 9 used for passenger/cargo service to rural Alaska. They will be replaced with 734s that are converted into the combi role. That is one less airlines that will be flying that model.

I don't thnik DL will be getting rid of the MD80's by 2010. The last I've heard is to start retiring them in 2012. they will most likely be replaced with a mix of 738 or 737-700 and a 100 pax aircraft.

AC will not be getting rid of the 762's for quite a while as the piolits said no to new planes. I was looking forward to the new planes. So expect to see the Gimli Glider flying in 2010. The 762's are possibly the oldest plane in the fleet
