Will the existing routes now be operated by the based aircraft?

Only if they decide to shift the aircraft already flying from the other bases onto new routes themselves. But i suspect the newly based aircraft will just fly those new routes announced.

Its Nottingham (I cant believe its not Derby) intercontinental, and yet another blow to BmiBaby, which was founded to kick Go! out of EMA!

More amusing is the new Cork Dublin service which in Ryanair speak should be:
Dublin Southwest - Dublin  Wow!

Will easyJet stay at EMA now FR is getting a foothold, are they likely to move to more primary airports such as MAN or BHX?

Actually I think DSA is a more likely contender for growth at the expense of EMA for U2..

Poles are arriving to work in the UK in vast numbers. Hence Wizzair from LPL and Skyeurope from MAN.

I've got no idea why FR think that EMA to Lodz and Wroclaw are feasible, but they must have done some homework beforehand. It is rather surprising though.

I think any UK-Poland route will do well now. There are large numbers of Poles in the UK nowadays, as mentioned, coming to work, and also Poland is an up and coming place for foreign tourists. Wroclaw and especially Lodz are surprising choices. I think Krakow would have been a safer bet but until the airport terminal is extended, it will continue to burst at the seams so it may be a while before Ryanair increases its presence there.

Heard about this on Century FM this afternoon.

10 new bases and 2 new Aircraft to be based there.

A spokesperson for East Midlands Airport was talking about noise from the increased traffic, and she said the 2 new Ryanair Planes will be new Aircraft, unlike Aircraft used before (ie the 732s!)

Good news, but the Airport seriously does need a new Baggage Claim area now!

As I am from Derby, it really does make my blood boil now the Airport is starting to get referred to as "Nottingham" and not "Nottingham East Midlands". The Airport is in Leicestershire, has a Nottingham Postcode, and a Derby Photo number (or something like that).

Good news all the same!

East Midlands Airport now features in the some of the Cosmos (Monarch Airlines) brochures. Does this mean some Monarch flights?

No surprise at all. Since the integration of Poland into the EU, the Poles have been coming here in their droves looking for work. Just check out LTN at 3am and the terminal is stuffed with Polish folks waiting (read sleeping) for the three early Wizz flights. As folks move to the UK in search of work and once settled this will ultimately lead to a massive increase in VFR traffic in both directions. Regarding business links, again referring to post EU integration, there are many business people and organisations wanting expansion into both the UK and Poland. There is a lot of money travelling between the two countries at the minute and there will continue to be for the foreseeable future. LCC's have got to decide quickly where they want to go to and when before another steps in first and establishes themselves....

The Berlin flight is interesting. SXF is an important eastJet base, EMA already is an easyJet base and now Ryanair will start this route. The second route out of SXF that one would suppose to be operated by easyJet that actually is operated by FR, after STN-SXF.

Slightly off topic, but I lived in Donington for just over two years when I worked with BD and at first I found it quite confusing. Had to consult a clearly defined map when confused/drunk for clarification...

I really just don't get how FR keeps growing. Every other week its a new base and xxx new routes. So now FR increases its presence in EMA (which to me will ALWAYS be East Midlands Airport, although I was reliably told by a friend of a friend who knows someone who heard it from someone else that they chose Nottingham because internationally more people know Nottingham Forrest that eith Derby County or Leicester City). Next BD announces a new route from LTN. So FR is on WW/BD turf and BD is on FR's turf. Is this all going to end in tears in 5 years, or can these guys just keep on going and going like the Duracell bunny?
