And we wonder where our luggage has gone... My goodness... really bad...
I guess there is much more going on at the airports worldwide.

Lets hope RFID will work. Delta will try it soon...

Another reason why I always try to travel with hand luggage only. My on-board trolley is big enough to store clothes for one week into it, so I only check luggage when I am away for longer than one week (happens not very often).

The only airport that kept my baggage more than once is CDG...now I know why  stirthepot

Not really surprising, isn't it? My pity for those people, who are sending valuable items in their non-hand baggage is rather limited. One must be naive to think that there are only angels working on airports.

Well, don't forget that especially in Europe you will on many flights be asked to check your hand luggage at the gate. And unlike the US, where you always get it back at the gate too, you will at many airports receive your hand luggage in the regular reclaim area. This mainly happens if you fly on Lufthansa CityLine. My case conforms to IATA standards and yet I am almost always asked to hand it over at the gate. If that happens, you have NO chance to secure your valuable, because they won't let you carry several individual items into the cabin either. For those people I do feel bad - it has indeed happened to me. My camera was broken from LHR to DUS and on MUC-CDG my phone mysteriously disappeared. Of course Lufthansa denied any responsibility and refused compensation. Like they always do.... As a frequent flyer on United I have to take LH connections regularly and I could go on forever about all the sh.. they have done to me...

I can't say that I'm all that shocked to read this... I know I might be flamed for this, but my first trip through CDG earlier this month was pretty surprising for me...

I find it difficult to believe that such an important airport is so inefficiently run. Get off a plane to wait for a bus to wait for another bus to wait for another bus to board your plane? I was never certain of where these buses were going, whether I was in security or not, etc.

If the passenger flow at CDG is so terribly disorganized, then I can only imagine the baggage security status. Our bags made it, and I was releived, but I have my next trek through that Rube Goldberg machine called CDG on Saturday... so we'll see if my bags make it.

Try that on CI, I had a carry on that meets US rules, but some Asian carriers have a really tiny guideline thing and you can get past counter fine then once your at gate, there is one person waiting to see for big carry ons and
there goes my rollers! and its annoying especially as a non-rev and I
am not planning to go through immigration.

You won't get flamed by many residents of Paris. You hit the nail on the head, it is not the design, nor scalability of CDG that is the problem, but he diabolical management of ADP. Do a search and read some entertaining threads!
Add to this the fact that AF has to manage without T2E and the lack of inter-terminal train and you get buses!!! The latter will be fixed next year, but T2E will take sometime. That leaves the question of ADP. How about we round up a peoples army and drive them into exile on a French offshore territory: La Reunion for example?

Mind you, there are some pretty scary airports in the US too....
When all's said and done, there'll be more said than done.

RFID is something that will bring us directly into a police state. Let's hope it'll be illegal soon.

You won't get flamed by me neither.

CDG sucks mainly because of ADP. I have issues with T1 design however. This being said, I heard last month or so that they are to reorganize and privatize the ADP thing. I am positive AF loses clientele because of ADP. And others. Because when there is a choce, they'll transfer elsewhere in Europe and I am a good example, even when I go to the province in France.
