United Interiors Mid-60s - Mid-70s

Thu Sep 15, 2005 10:16 am

I've asked similar questions about other airlines on here and gotten good responses, so I was wondering...anyone here who flew or worked for United back in the 60s and 70s? I've been trying to find their interior color schemes for the DC-8s, 727s, 737s, and 720s. There is only one pic on here, from 1971. Also, every pic I've seen seems to have a different interior, even among the same types of a/c. Was United like TWA, who had a large number of interior colors and designs and mixed them throughout their fleet? I'm talking about before the brown interiors of the late 70s and 80s. Thanks!

I have a picture in the database of a United DC-8 interior I took in 1971. The 727s and 737s had a mix of very different colors and patterns all in the same aircraft. Some were yellow with a colorful plaid design on them. Some were either mustard color or dark blue with little squared circle designs. Some were solid colors, like red-orange. I have some pictures, but they have people in them, so I can't post them. Also, just before the current interior design, I was on a UA 737-200 with all orange seats.
