AA Flights 887 And 1933 Cancelled, Why?

Sat Sep 17, 2005 2:06 am

I was looking at MFE's website, and it says that the flight from DFW going to MFE is cancelled. Just wanted to know why?

On the Faa.gov website, it shows that there is no cancelled flights due to weather it has the green dot which means delays of 15 min. or less.

AA1933 cancelled due to acft arriving very late into DFW due to PVD (where it started the day) weather. That weather in addition to the requirement to transit high-density NYC area (especially bad during poor wx conditions) probably lead to its very late arrival at DFW. That cancellation meant no plane would be available for 887, so it is also cancelled.

I'm pretty sure AA has enough super 80's to fly down to MFE, I mean AA only has 4 daily flights to MFE. So what happens when a flight is cancelled? Do the recomadate the passengers to the next flight?

Sorry, very few extra planes, pilots & flight attendants just sitting around DFW waiting to be used.

In this case, yes. The next flight was only a couple of hours later and all pax were accomodated on that flight. Return flight was pretty full and all connecting pax were reaccomodated on later connecting flights. It's a bit of a headache for the reservations folks who have to do all the reconnections, but a whole lot cheaper than operating the flight late --huge cascade effect throughout AA's entire network of flights.
