are these the only routes so far out of madrid?

sorry if its an obvious question... i have so far only heard of a BCN base.

How are they performing so far? it seems to me that the spanish market is getting saturated by capacity these days.

well i would give them a go. At least they know who they are a 'no frills' carrier, unlike IB who is a no-frills carrier within Europe but pretends to be a full-service carrier.

This is great news! I personally have only been asking for this for the last 16 months!

That is true, but mostly on the Mediterranean coast...Madrid remains the domain of IB, with a sprinkling of a few LCCs such as easyJet shaking things up at Barajas.
Ryanair rings the Metropolis...but as of yet, too timid compete with the big boys at the big airports....

Metro Madrid with around 6 million inhabitants is RIPE with opportunity!

Does Neeleman still have his interest? (founder jetBlue; alumnus Westjet & Morris Air)

Vueling joined in on the Puente Aero between Madrid and Barcelona, but these are the first non-Spain routes to be operated out of Madrid.

Its nice that they are flying to CDG, a little compition with Air France and with Air Europa and Easy Jet to ORY.

Plus Iberia 2x daily to CDG and 8x to ORY
AF flies 10x CDG and 2x ORY and Air Europa 2x ORY

Aliitle crowded for a second LCC to enter... I bet the lecacys are being forced to reduce frequencies

Nothing really "arround" as stated above... The new Don Quixote Airport in Ciudad Real is planned to be functional in late 2006 and FR has announced they will start operations there in 2007 as "Madrid Sur" because the airport will have a link to the AVE railway (high-speed train) and one can make it to centre of Madrid in 45 mins (same as Stansted express for London)

We will see what happens then with MAD traffic
