Delta: JFK-Venice, Italy

Wed May 10, 2000 6:38 am

Congrats to Delta on what I think will be a terriffic business decision for them. Two years ago, I flew Alitalia to Malpensa from JFK and then the plane continued to Venice Marco Polo Intl Airport. So, then and even now, Alitalia has no nonstop between the US and Venice. Starting today, Delta will be the only carrier flying the route nonstop. And being Venice and the summer season is coming, there will be many tourists looking for a nostop flight from the US to Venice. So I personally think that the Delta 767-300ER being used will most likely be packed. What do you all think?

I think Air Europe has a 4x weekly 777 from VCE to JFK.
Its good to have a connection to this beautiful city.

You know, I think that you are right about the Air Europe flights. Then I wonder why on the Delta site that it said they would be the only carrier offering nonstop. Maybe because they operate daily and Air Europe only 4x a week. Thanks for the info.

You're right United747-400, DL's website says DL will be the only airline offering DAILY nonstop service. I'm so glad because Venice (VCE) is my favorite city in Europe and now I can get there without having to change planes in Europe or driving or by train. Yippee!!

I wonder if Delta will upgrade to 777 or MD-11 if these flights are really packed.

If they are packed they will upgrade to a MD-11. Then if the capacity is still needed, a 777.
