New System For Auto Push Back - Economical?

Mon Sep 19, 2005 2:27 am

Boeing and Chorus Motors currently developing a system which allows auto push backs and moving of aircrafts without using the engines or towtrucks.

What do you think about the aerodynamic changes on the noseweels and the additional weight? Will this system be more efficient than towtrucks, etc.?

In case this system will be successful. How will it change the future of the tarmac traffic? (Towtrucks, push backs, etc.)

I think it could be more efficient, and maybe it will eliminate the risk of nose gear colapse because of a bad towing.

Like you said, let´s see how it gets about aerodinamics, and how it will be on the nose gear, for example, on landings or take offs, will it be on a "iddle position" and let´s see about the weight issues.

Cheers

Check the Tech/ops forum, we had a whole thread on it a while back.
