Don't Cry For Me Argentina

Wed May 10, 2000 10:37 am

the truth is i am leaving you!   it sucks badly but i am moving from argentina in june to go back to dallas   But, on a brighter note, i will be flying on the first flight (june 30?) from here to miami on aa's 777s   thats if aa gets them on time. Got a few questions cause i've never been on aa's 777s. First, i am gonna be flying coach   but, there are ptvs right? do they have a channel that shows the aircraft location(map)? do they cause allot of light pollution in the cabin? i do need my sleep! also, by this time will they have had the more leg room thingy in coach?

BTW- i plan on taking full advantage of the low drinking age by getting very drunk at the kilkkenny before i go to the airport

AA's 777s are wonderful to fly in, even in coach. I did a DFW-NRT trip last summer in coach and it was comfortable. They are all equipped with the new coach seats and I'm sure the legroom will be ample. Each seat has it's own private TV with approximately 20 channels. The airshow being on one of them. All in all, AA's 777s are great and I'm sure you'll enjoy the flight. Have fun. BTW, the TV's aren't that bright, so you should be able to sleep.

I flew LHR-ORD in Business Class on AA's 777. The service was great, but the personal TV entertainment was not that great. It was not "on demand", rather they would cycle through the programming. On our 8+ hour flight we saw the only 3 movies they had cycled through. 2 of which were horrible. The "Airshow" channel which shows the progress was pretty cool. They keep that up on the big screen at the front of the cabin throughout the flight. I'm looking forward to US Airways A330 Personal TV's which are supposed to be "on demand" with the ability to stop, rewind, and pause for restroom breaks.

Have a great flight.

What I Will Miss The Most Is....

Thu May 11, 2000 4:47 am

the women   what i wont miss is the corruption and the ill-fated aerolineas/austral problems. just keep me updated if any delays happen in the boeing 777 production line because if AA doesn't get their planes on time, i will be forced to fly their MD-11s and i will be very, very, very, very, very, very, very,v,very, very, upset

btw- if you didnt already know, i hate the md-11, although it does look beatiful.

Corruption is everywhere and Aerolineas/Austral problems...does anybody really care anymore? I don't...if it's saved good for them and the employees but it better change for the better if it goes bankrupt and dissapears oh well. If LAPA improves it's service and adds ARGENTINA at the end of the fuselage so people know where it's from...it could be the next national flag carrier....just imagine....

or if on the seat back it would say "adjuste su cinturon"(correct?) instead of adjust your seat belt in english and russian   Or, what if they were to completely give up on international flights and make a super domestic airline?

I have a question, I bought a ticket to Argentina with AR and I have heard that there are some problems with that airline right now. Does anybody know if I am going to have problems? (the ticket is for Jun 4-11).

Thank you

The Aerolineas Argentinas situation is very serious. The government is not willing to put more money and all indicates a possible bankrupcy. At the end of the month a new plan proposal is presented but read on La Nacion newspaper that contemplates dropping routes to New York, Australia/NZ, Rome and others in Latin America.

If you want to avoid headaches, try to fly other more reliable airline (US carriers or Lan Chile).

Sebastian

But what happens to the people (and companies) that bought already tickets once the company is broke? Does anybody know what happened to VIASA after the bankrupcy?
