Saudi Arabian And Newark

Tue Sep 20, 2005 2:47 am

I track flights every day going into EWR and everyday I see at least 2 Saudi Arabian flights on the list. Most of the time it is the 747SP, however I have seen a 747-300...and 777-200 (last saturday)....Gulfstream Private Jet...and a 747-400. And these flights are on a daily basis, almost like scheduled services. So is Saudi Arabian starting flights into EWR...or do the Saudi's just like Newark??

The Saudis know that EWR is the superior airport!

The Saudi's probably just like to shop in NYC and park in New Jersey. Big grin

Those are charters. Maybe it is easier to get slots at EWR?

I think LGA is the only slot-controlled airport of the three.

It indeed may be easier to operate in/out of and get slots at EWR vs. JFK. Perhaps the Saudi airline has arrangements with CO and other airlines for connecting flights, servicing of a/c? JFK is kinda weak for connecting flights except for some transcons while EWR gives you all kinds of connecting flights all around North America (especially to smaller eastern cities) and Central and South America, as well. Perhaps too, is easier and faster customs and immigration processing.

Why would they need a connecting flight? Just fly the a/c to where they want to go!

Any chance they can send their Cargo MD-11's over here???

Saudi Arabian's transatlantic flights go to JFK then IAD. I don't think they code share with any US airlines, but they must have connections to the west coast + Houston.

I was under the impression that the GIV is a VIP aircraft. They could just be VIP charters, and they landed at a less populated airport for security reasons

You guys did not hear they come to EWR to pick up the cash from the gas stations and take it home. To be honest who knows what they do sometimes they go to terminal B and others to the north cargo area. I am told it is the royal family. Always cop cars around it. I do know it is not scheduled. They come to EWR clear customs and go to other places to pick up the gas station money. That 777 went someplace in canada last week.
