Anyone Flown A Twin Comanche?

Tue Sep 20, 2005 1:41 pm

Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the Piper PA-30 Twin Comanche. I'm starting my multi-rating, and should be doing my first flight in it this weekend. From what I've heard it's not the easiest plane to fly, so I was just wondering if anyone had any stories or advice on it.

Thanks

Jason

I've heard (and read) that the airplane tends to jump up into ground effect during takeoff, and float forever during landing. Apparently, it sits closer to the ground than comparable twins, and it also tends to sit nose high, which contributes to the tendencies. I believe a smaller diameter nosewheel/tire is a popular upgrade, as it effectively reduces the AOA when on the ground.
