United.com Is A Joke

I can't believe the second largest airline in the US can't even keep their website active for a whole day. I been trying to log on for the last two days. I wonder how many thousands of customers they have lost in this time frame?

I'm a UA employee and I feel really pissed about this problem.

Their My Intineraries function has also not functioned correctly for months and there have been intermittent glitches with the E-Ticketing function/agreement with USair (of which I was an unhappy victim of) through which E-tickets bought via UAL are converted to paper in the system and seat assignments are lost.

There is a known issue with Comcast subscribers having problems with logging onto united.com in the past two weeks or so.

Your best bet for now is to clear your history and cookies and try again. It has worked for some people.

I have found ways to work around the system, it is not the best. They are excellent if you use the email system.

What I find interesting about ual.com is that the cookies actually keep track of what flights you are searching for (especially using FF miles). And if you continue to search the same day, time, etc...the prices go up. This was very noticeable when I was booking my ATL-SYD flight on FF miles. It started off with three available flights, then two, then one, then none (we're talking all within a half hour). Then I deleted my cookies, and did the exact same search, and sure enough, all three of the original flights popped up. It was crazy. Anyone, else notice this or have any insight into this? Is this a common issue on all airlines, or just UAL?
