Power Ports On AA Aircraft

Wed Sep 21, 2005 4:17 am

This topic started as a tangent to the AA or UA better transatlantic thread, so instead of polluting that thread, I want to start a new one.

I have had problems actually running my laptop (which requires 70 watts) on AA aircraft. I can recharge the laptop with no problem though.

Here's a reply in the other topic, which I copy here just for purposes of getting things rolling:

Quoting AADC10 (Reply 26):
The problem is the aircraft's power supply. AA's coach power is that the system is often overloaded and cannot supply all of the devices that are plugged in

Actually, I have had this problem in coach AND first on the 757, and in first (both the Flagship Suite and the "old" first) on the 777. And, on the 777, there were only 8 of us in the cabin and at most, 4 of us could have had a device plugged in (the other 4 people were sleeping).

not correct, it has nothing to do with AA's power system being overloaded...more along the lines of a bad/weak power converter

Can you recommend a particular brand/model that would work? Would VERY much appreciate it!

I'm looking into that myself...I'm not sure which one would be good though..I would assume it would be Targus....
