Why have you lost respect in AMFA? Nothing in the link leads me to the same conclusion. The points brought up are the same ones I have been saying from the start of the strike. The SCABS are only in it for the short term money. They don't care about NW or even if they put out a safe product. I'm not suprised they will not sign for their own work. That is the first line of defense an AMT has to liablity. If I don't sign for it I didn't do it.

Early in my career I went down that road. We had an airplane with four brake assy out of limits. Managment cried they couldn't afford it this week. That cry lasted three weeks. Every night that airplane came into the hangar and the service check got turned in with one blank box for the manager to sign, check brakes for wear. Finally someone with bigger balls than me called the FAA. They grounded the plane and we had new brakes overnight. That was a polarizing moment for me. I will never over look something that I know is wrong. I will stand up for what is right. AMFA is still doing that. My AMFA brothers at NW are standing up for my profession. Yes, I work at non-union DL but I am an AMFA member.

So chasing down scabs and threatening them is "right" ?

Yeah, right.

As if the strikers care about it...

The strikers objective is to screw NW, per their own admission. Thats when those guys lost my respect.

You seem to condone a mafia-like organization. Go ahead, beat the pulp... that will bite you back in the rear.
Take off and live

AMFA thinks the strike is going "fabulously"...and there's no strike fund...and NW is humming along nicely without them. How could you not have respect for such breathtaking-blissfully-ignorant optimism?

I hope NW gives the shaft to all of them. Hire the "scabs" permanently. There are mechanics all over the US without work it wont be difficult to get replacements. I think this union is dead.

There was another thread on here about a guy who was a leader for the IAM when they represented the mechanicsm and he crossed the picket line.

So what did AMFA do?? They picketed his house.
Heres the article the thread is about: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/2005-09-22-nwa-strike_x.htm

Heres what I posted on the other thread:

Quote:

From the article:

On Monday, AMFA members picketed his house.

Hurley and his wife weren't home at the time, but Hurley said his 14-year-old son and 6-year-old granddaughter were.

"They did a good job of scaring my granddaughter," he said.

Who the hell do these peole think they are that they can picket a mans house?? Thats just unbelieveably disgusting. I was semi-neutral in this whole union vs. anti-union going on in the threads, but these people are f*cking pigs and deserve to be out of a job if this is how theyre going to act. Having the right to strike against your employer is one thing, but when you start harassing co-workers, thats just beyond reprehensible.

I was laughing at the part about the strike being about "jobs not money".
last time I checked it took money (That NW doesn't have) to pay people who have jobs.

I am sure if they wanted to have a job for free, they could bring them all back today.

They never had my respect to begin with.

* AMFA didn't have a strike fund at all. Now they're relying on UAW money to help their members. Pathetic. Delle-Femine ought to be hung up for not taking care of his own "brothers and sisters."

* At least those 20 scabs realize that their first obligation is to their FAMILY and not to some homogenous group of organized laborer to whom they themselves would offer little loyalty in return. AMFA has struck itself into irrelevance and yet there's this expectation that everyone hold the line. IT'S OVER- AMFA LOST.

Because the AMFA led its members in to a no-win strike situation. The union gets only 50% of the blame, however. The other 50% goes to the strikers themselves. The members allowed themselves to be led down this path.

It's a mess where, unfortunately for the human factor involved, Northwest has won.
